Purpose is the Magic

Did you know that finding your purpose is life-changing? The knowledge of your purpose fuels you, the passion that is driving and motivating. Your purpose can light you up, drive you to take risks, and be ok with being uncomfortable. When we take action around our purpose we feel fulfillment and satisfaction (instead of trudging through life and punching the clock). What could be better reasons to find our purpose? 🤷

We all have a purpose that we can own. Finding it can be elusive because we have many distractions and blocks. When we are deep in the day-to-day it is difficult to take time to contemplate. And our past programming tells us how limited we are (not helpful!). To find purpose, we need alone time for introspection, to give yourself the opportunity to feel into something that really calls to you. You will know it when you find it! 😊

Try this – take some time doing an activity by yourself with a soft focus on finding purpose. Your activity could be to take a jog, fold some laundry, or unload the dishwasher. Do it without any other input - no earbuds or television on in the background. You might take a couple of minutes prior to the activity to write down some thoughts about what has inspired you in the past. During the activity, if your mind starts to wander gently bring it back to that soft focus. If anything comes up that you want to write down, take a minute to do that. You may not get to your purpose the first time you do this, but you are on your way!

When we find that fire that is purpose, it is magic. It is like a locomotive, gathering momentum. Our purpose or dream can be big enough to leave room for other people to buy into. Part of the “big” is impact, impact to community, service to others. It does not have to be the cure for cancer or ending world hunger. But it can be!

When we are in service, we are contributing positively to something bigger than ourselves. When we have purpose in service, we are in flow with the universe.

A great example of a person finding their purpose is William Wilberforce, a wealthy English socialite turned politician in the 1800’s. The short version is that through knowing a slave ship captain who became a preacher (John Newton), William understood the horrific conditions that people experienced as slaves and devoted his life to the elimination of slavery (the movie about his story is Amazing Grace).

The song Amazing Grace was written by English poet and preacher John Newton

For me I found my purpose over a decade of self-reflection, reading, and conversations with many wonderful, insightful people. What is my purpose? I am glad you asked! My purpose is to help people to peace, drawing from my own experience with limiting beliefs.
Your business benefits from having the momentum of your purpose behind it. When your stakeholders understand how important your purpose is to you, and how it fits into your personal story, they buy into what you are selling. When they form a personal connection to you and your story, and they become your advocate.
When we find our purpose, and incorporate it into our business, we are in flow and unstoppable.❤️

With gratitude,

John
